ACADEMIC PARTNERSHIPS MANAGER / BIOMANUFACTURING TRAINER

Magdalena studied biotechnology at the Mannheim University of Applied Sciences (Germany). She obtained her Ph.D. from the University of Nottingham (UK) in stem cell tissue engineering, specializing in defined culture systems for pluripotent stem cells, followed by postdoctoral work at Nottingham developing cell culture automation technologies for biomaterials screening. She then returned to Canada to join CCRM in Toronto as a Development Scientist in Cell Manufacturing. In addition to her breadth of scientific know-how, she has completed the post-graduate certificate in Research Administration (Mohawk College) and brings her research Project Administration and Project Management (UPEI) skills to the CASTL team.

Magdalena spent the last four years in the start-up world at Solarvest (PEI) Inc. as Regulatory and Quality Manager and Director of Stem Cell Development at Because, Animals Corp. At Because, Animals, she set up an R&D laboratory, trained a team of technicians and led the bioprocess development of scalable stem cell culture to create cultured meat for pet food.
