Filtration Techniques & Operations - Downstream Operations Workshop - English

Filtration Techniques & Operations - Downstream Operations Workshop - English

Filtration Techniques & Operations - Downstream Operations Workshop is an intensive workshop designed to equip biomanufacturing professionals with essential skills for optimizing filtration processes. The workshop covers the fundamentals of filtration methods, including depth filtration, tangential flow filtration (TFF), and bioburden reduction filtration. Participants will learn about the principles, applications, and equipment involved in each filtration technique. Through a mix of theoretical knowledge and hands-on practice, attendees will be better prepared to implement and optimize filtration processes in biopharmaceutical manufacturing.

Who should take this course?
This course is designed for those that are new to downstream processing including operators, technical staff, engineers, and managers who need to increase their basic knowledge of actual operations in a modern downstream processing biopharmaceutical plant.

Topics

  • Introduction to DSP
  • Introduction to filtration
  • Depth fIltration
  • Tangential flow filtration (TFF)
  • Bioburden reduction filtration

Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of this module, trainees will be able to:

  • Grasp the fundamental principles and stages of downstream processing in biopharmaceutical manufacturing
  • Gain an overview of various filtration methods and their roles in ensuring product purity and safety
  • Develop practical skills in setting up, optimizing, and troubleshooting depth filtration processes
  • Acquire hands-on experience with TFF systems, focusing on operation, optimization, and troubleshooting
  • Learn to apply bioburden reduction techniques, select appropriate filters, and maintain regulatory compliance and sterility

Delivery

  • 0.5 days of theoretical instructor-led virtual delivery
  • 1 day practical hands-on delivery at a CASTL Biomanufacturing Training Facility

Assessment

  • A competency-based assessment will be undertaken at the end of the course. This will certify proficiency in the theory and practical skills.

Costs
